Pretty Penny - A fresh take on a classic theme in country music.

Dark, brooding, and full of chaotic energy, Pretty Penny is the first release from Ralph Nix in collaboration with MMG. The song was put together over the course of a few months in winter 2024 with Lyn Terry singing those ghostly backing vocals and Shelby Kemp providing the driving foundation on guitar and bass.

The song opens with the haunting sound of a distant train, and the low static of a light rain. Ralph's voice sounds like a narrator from another dimension as he weaves the tale of a romance gone horribly wrong.

"Chicken in the henhouse flicking her feathers at a rooster,

tryin' to make him feel right."

From the vivid imagery, to the potent dark energy, Pretty Penny grabs you and holds you from start to finish.

Nix himself described the song as “An attempt to recreate the haunting sounds of an old spiritual to describe the chaos that can manifest from two of the most powerful feelings in a man’s life. The moment a woman decides to give you her love and the moment she decides to take it away.”
