Ralph Nix, actual name Lance Blackwell, writes songs that will make the hair on your neck stand straight up. He has worked in and around the Hattiesburg music scene for a number of years, first with the Dark-Bluegrass/burlesque outfit known as Ralph Nix & The Catfish Gospel, and more recently with the more straightforward Bluegrass and Americana group Ralph Nix & The Guilt Birds.
Lance is an accomplished songwriter, singer, and guitar player and often plays solo shows that highlight his deep, raspy voice and accentuate his deep and heartfelt storytelling style lyrics.
Lance is a highly professional working musician and is actively seeking to expand his performances to new venues.

Artist's Story
Ralph Nix is a Mississippi born singer/song writer with influences in all southern sounds. From the instrumentation to the writing, it is obvious that he has been steeped in Blues, Gospel, Country, Rock and even Blue Grass. Winner of Festival South's 2015 Album of the Year award for his debut album "Sins I Have Sown" featuring the amazing Catfish Gospel. He is proud to announce that he has teamed up with the Guilt Birds to produce his second album "Good Ingredients" , which is a perfect blend of feel good sounds and meaningful storytelling. Recorded at the famous Studio in the Country in Bogalusa, LA. "Good Ingredients" has a classic sound that can only be achieved in this one of a kind studio and is a must have for any collection.
