Katrina Miller is a Mississippi-based fiddler, violinist, songwriter, and bandleader whose playing has carried her from Colorado and Oklahoma to New York, New Orleans, the Florida coast, the Lake of the Ozarks, and across the Deep South. Rooted in both classical training and Southern traditions, she has become a sought-after performer for bands, theaters, and recording sessions across genres. Introduced to the violin at age five in a South Mississippi foster home, Katrina was Concert Mistress of the Gulf Coast Youth Orchestra by eight and consistently earned top chairs in pre-college orchestras at the University of Southern Mississippi, including All-American, All-South, and All-State ensembles. She also collected numerous marching and concert band awards through middle school, high school, and junior college, building the technical foundation she now brings to roots, country, and Americana music. As a teen, Katrina immersed herself in the regional bluegrass and fiddle scene, performing in a band with a fiddler known as “Grandaddy.” At fifteen, she won the Mississippi State Fiddle Championship in her age division and then captured the overall title. Since then, she has performed in productions such as “Always… Patsy Cline,” “The Buddy Holly Story,” and “Hattiesburlesque,” and has contributed to Travis Mills’ films “Blood Country” and “Son of a Gun.” Katrina has played in bands with Doyle Grisham of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band and has performed in a long-running duo with Cary Hudson for over fifteen years, as well as with Grayson Capps, Pinebelt Pickers, Her and the Hymns, and Galen Martin & Crutches. Her credits include appearances at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Mississippi Makers Fest, Jimmie Rodgers Festival, Albino Skunk Festival, Standard Deluxe, The Frog Pond Sunday Social, Along the Pontchartrain, the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Experience, the Walter Anderson Museum of Art, and Duling Hall, and she has opened for artists such as Robert Earl Keen and Elizabeth Cook. Now, after decades of elevating other artists’ music, Katrina is stepping forward with her own voice as a songwriter and fronting her own band, bringing together her fiddle fire, hard-won life experience, and storytelling to create music that is unmistakably her own.
